My 8.8 has 4.88 Yukon gears, and a Detroit locker.

Cost wise... Well the locker will run you about $500-600 new.., install kit is about $100-150, and then you need to find the axle. I have a 99 explorer axle with disc breaks. The axles can run $200-500. Just depends where you look. Oh then you either install the gears or have someone else set them up. more $$$

Combination of parts. Like mine is a waggy housing with ford hubs and rotor's, chevy spindles and calipers, Alloy axle shafts, detroit, and precision chromoly gears

OK the project has begun. I had a little helper for awhile today. This is Hannah my little sister. I think she might turn into a gearhead when she gets older.

This is her frustrated look :D

But I didn't get very far today. Kinda got a late start after rounding up material and tools. And..... Go figure the first fawking notch I make is backwards.

So I called it the day.

I was just going to see if you wanted to hangout or something while I work on this. How early are you talking about I'm in no rush. :flipoff:

OK today I got the main lines cut/welded and such. But I had to quit about 5pm because Rick's drill is acting funny. :flipoff: So I ran over to PawnExchange and picked up a Makita 1/2 drill/cement hammer for $20  Tomorrow I need to finish notching 2 pieces, cut out clearance for the radiator grill, and slap on some skins. But here's pics of what I got done today.

They angle in slightly to follow the hood line. I think I'm going to have a hell of a time cutting the hood to fit.
