Damage report:

Both inner and outer shafts are twisted at the ears. U-joint broke.

I need two new shafts

But I might be in luck the outer is a Nitro. I wonder if the warranty covers the ears twisting? The inner shaft is an Alloy USA but the person I won it from won't honor a warranty.

I hope so. The ears on the nitro shaft are twisted the worse which caused the u-joint to break off one of its legs. I had a hell of a time getting the shafts out of the knuckle. I ended up taking the u-joint apart while it was still in the knuckle then pull it out backwards. Through the knuckle not the hub hole

UPDATE:

Got the passengers side all done with a new 300M Bobby joint. That side was much easier to deal with.

Drivers side is still tore down awaiting new shafts.

What wheel backspacing are you running with the 39.5's? And what were you running with the 36's?

I'm running 4" back spacing with these tires. But I also have 2" spacers on up front. My WMS to WMS is 65" front and rear. But with 36"s and stock width axles I was running 3.75" back spacing. Hope that helps or answers your questions.

Definatly helps. Was there much rubbing with the 36's and stock width axles?

I like them too. I just need to get a damn 60. To be safe. But we'll see how this 44 does once I get the bobby joints in.

Ya this build thread gets me all pumped up to get my d44's in so I can have some 37's but then I see those 40's and want d60's! But I think I will stick with the d44's and do the typical jeep progresion to d60's as I love watching jeeps evolve to big bad crawlers like yours has become. Good work!!! You should be proud!! :amanda:

Okay dookey

Today I got it all put back together. Had to replace one bearing while doing it. But today the joop got new driverside Nitro shafts and a Bobby Long 300M u-joint. Also some shock wraps.

Drivers side is a circuit board decal. I'm thinking about redoing my hood to something like this.

So I got a new 16" fan. Installed it once and thought I had the fan on backwards. So I just removed it, flipped the blade over and installed it again. Guess what?? I had it right the first time. It is definitely blow forward through the radiator. :theskyisfalling: Now I need to buy ANOTHER set of those zip lock things.

Joop notes:

Gotta write these before I forget.

Coolant temp sensor for the guage is located on the drivers side back of the head. Little sensor , 1 wire plug in.

Oil pressure sensor, 1 wire, passengers side of the block.
