So I found an XJ! Iv been looking into getting a trail cruzer / wheeler for the family, for a while. I ran across a nice looking set-up on craigslist a few days ago and was wondering what to look out for!... im not a Jeep guy, so I don’t quite know what to look for except the obvious. It’s a: 2000 XJ 4.0L / automatic W/130,000 W/ Dana 44 front & 60 rear W/ 4.10's F&R , locked F&R On 38.5 ssr's @ 75% Stock T-case W/ full high steer set up (brand new)I haven’t been able to meet up with the guy, as he lives in Edmonds and im workin in San Diego at the moment… but I just need to know what things to look out for. Iv been in the 4x4 sine for a while and know my far share, but I guess im just a little nervous about getting screwed over. Any help on what to look for would be very appreciated!

Well sh!t!... there goes that idea! Do you guys think it looks like it would be all over the road? Why do you say trailer it?

well those tires wouldn't drive down the road very well, and to be honest I dont think it looks greatly road worthy.
aside from all that, they dont come much less road legal than that. It's comp cut, full width, to high, etc. etc. etc.

Yeah, the comp cut kind of throw me for a loop! I mean it looks cool, but I don’t think it was necessary... I guess I’ll just have to take a look and see. I was also thinking about swapping out the tiers for some 35's, for better handling.

Get something with a frame if you want it to last long. XJ's dont last that long.

If you have 60s under it that added weight is going to tear it up quicker.

crack at the steering box. they have fixes out there for that. rear frame broke all the way around on both side, but i think that was caused by the wreck that caused it to have a salvaged title. the rockers dont stand a chance without sliders. there is a lot of body flex that can cause problems.
